Red Mallee Burl Bowl | Fresh Off the Block Series
Picture late afternoon sunlight streaming across the dining table, the air finally warm enough to leave the windows open, and a gathering of friends lingering over fresh, vibrant food. I turned this solid Red Mallee burl bowl to capture that exact, renewing energy. Arguably one of the most breathtakingly beautiful timbers I have ever had the privilege to turn on the lathe, its swirling crimson hues and chaotic grain are designed to bring an earthy, grounding warmth to your living space.
Made for Lighter Days This bowl is more than just a striking display piece; it is built to be used and loved. It is the ideal vessel for holding fresh, seasonal fruits on the kitchen island or serving a vibrant, crisp salad to share during a weekend lunch. At 200mm wide and 60mm deep, its wide, inviting curve makes even the simplest afternoon snack feel elevated. It has been sanded to a flawlessly smooth finish and treated with my premium, food-safe tung oil and beeswax polish, highlighting every intricate detail of the burl.
Part of my ‘Fresh Off the Block’ Series This piece is an exclusive addition to my Fresh Off the Block series, a special collection dedicated to unique, completely one-of-a-kind creations. Because I let the wild, natural character of the solid block of Red Mallee burl dictate the final design, there is no other bowl exactly like this one in the world. It is highly unlikely I will ever make something quite like this again, making it a truly personal addition to your home collection.
Product Dimensions:
Diameter: 200mm
Depth: 60mm
Care Instructions: To keep your Red Mallee burl bowl looking its absolute best for generations of gatherings to come, simply wipe it clean with a warm, damp cloth. Never submerge the timber in water or place it in the dishwasher. I recommend reconditioning the wood occasionally with my woodshop board butter to maintain its deep luster and protect the grain.
Note: As this is a singular piece in my Fresh Off the Block series, once it is sold, it cannot be restocked or replicated. Secure this piece of functional art before it is gone.
